ABOUT MUVA NATURE, the Doula

Prenatal, Birth and Postpartum Doula

Prenatal, Birth, and Postpartum services available to those in need. I believe in offering a holistic and natural approach to birth that is consistent with our first known language, mother nature. It is important to connect back to the Earth and the energy/vibrations of the Universe. Mother Nature (sometimes known as Mother Earth or the Earth-mother) is defined as a common personification of woman that focuses on the life-giving and nurturing aspects of nature by embodying it, in the form of the mother. I call myself Muva Nature because I put a modern and present-day knowledge to communicate life.

My work in general is helping families to remember, to reconnect, to reclaim cultural practices, ceremonial practices, kinship practices in birthing our babies, and reminding them how this process builds the future. I focus not only on birth helper skills, but also on ancestral knowledge and Indigenous tradition. I have studied birth helper basic knowledge and skill building (reproductive physiology, preconception health, support during pregnancy, labor, and birth); reclamation of birth ceremonies; and the revitalizing efforts of women’s coming of age ceremonies and rites of passages that work to assist in rebuilding lifeways and healing our nations, storytelling, breastfeeding support, ancestral knowledge, and plant medicine making.

The most common definition of a doula is "a person trained to provide emotional, physical and educational support to the pregnant woman and her support team prenatally and during labor and birth." The focus is on the pregnant woman yet extends to include anyone who will be present during the labor and birth. I don't take their place, I complement it. (Those closest to you are experts on you. I'm an expert on birth. Together, we combine our resources to become the perfect team for you.)

ONGOING SUPPORT

Medical terminology “translation” into everyday terms
Professional referrals throughout childbearing year (chiropractic, photography, placenta encapsulation, lactation, craniosacral therapy, massage, acupuncture, CPM and CNM midwives, obstetricians, etc)

PRENATAL

Insight into local birth options
Assistance in creating a birth plan
Phone and email support throughout pregnancy
On-call availability from 38-42 weeks
Plant-based Nutrition Guidance
3 Sessions in
Backup doula provided if needed
Pregnancy Box (custom prenatal tea per trimester, stretch mark oil, Moonstone/Unakite/Rose Quartz pregnancy waistbeads, rose and lavender body scrub, rose oil face elixir)
Lotus Birth Kit (optional)

LABOR AND BIRTH

Unlimited hours of support (flat fee for support, no overtime costs)
Assistance by phone during pre-labor and early labor
Continuous hands-on support at home and/or hospital (beginning in active labor)
Partner support & instruction (including dad, friends, other family members)
Maintaining a positive birthing environment
Non-pharmacological comfort measures
Explanation of risks/benefits of common interventions
Calming touch and massage
Reminders of birthing positions
Self-advocacy reinforcement (helping you speak up for yourself)
Emotional encouragement
Access to labor tools such as birth ball and rebozo
Relaxation guidance
Holistic pain relief techniques such as acupressure, Reiki, sound healing, etc.
Availability of aromatherapy tools

POSTPARTUM

2 hours support immediately after birth
Assistance with initial breastfeeding
Review and processing of your birth experience
Birth notes/timeline when possible
Unlimited text, email, and phone support for 1 month after your birth.

DISCLAIMER:

I do provide payment plans and/or gift certificates for family and friend to buy for mom. I can also work a sliding scale on services depending on need and can accept trades, contact me and we can discuss further. I believe that every woman deserves to have help for her baby's birth and deserves to have all the benefits from a Birth Doula and Lotus Birth, if applicable; so I will do my best to work to create payment arrangement with you.
